The high temperatures They threatened to ruin one of the most anticipated celebrations by the guancheros, the Bajada de Las Hayas. The fans became more necessary than ever for the almost 2,000 people who gathered last Saturday for the 23rd edition of this already traditional pilgrimage. The El Farrobo neighborhood was the starting point for the procession, which, precisely because of the heat, delayed its start to seven thirty in the evening. By that time, the temperatures had already begun to drop and some low clouds allowed some cool air to flow.

As tradition dictates, the nine candidates for queen of the Harvest Festival led the tour carrying the banner of the Virgen de La Esperanza, together with the municipal authorities.

The hundreds of participants returned to give the maximum splendor to the event with the color of traditional costumes, through the streets of El Farrobo, Los Hornos, La Palmita, Doctor Fleming, La Asomada, El Vínculo, La Alhóndiga, Pedro González Yanes and El Sol street. Around nine o’clock at night, at the doors of the church of El Dulce Nombre de Jesús, the traditional offerings to the patron saint began by all the participating groups and parrandas.

In this XXIII edition, the Cultural Association La Guanchería de Los Realejos, the Danzas de las Flores de Tegueste, the Perenkén Guanchero, the Parranda de Santa Catalina, the folkloric group La Atahona, the Los Alzados family and the La Parranda were present at the event. Limera, from the neighboring municipality of San Juan de la Rambla San Juan de la Rambla, next to the parranderos del Drago and the partying of the Medio Litro de Icod de Los Vinos. The night lasted until 5 in the morning.
