The Governing Board of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, chaired by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, yesterday approved the contracting file for the supply and work of the projects for the execution of two new children’s play areas in the city, located in the Plaza de La Cruz, in El Sobradillo, and another area of these characteristics that is located in Cuesta Piedra, in Plaza Mama Loli, both with a base bid budget of 354,114.41 euros. The first will consist of a children’s play area that includes climbing and climbing elements protected under shaded areas, while the second will have a carnival theme, with a wide variety of inclusive elements with a high play value.
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasized both “on the need to provide new areas of the municipality with new facilities, mainly in districts with a larger child population.” In addition, he recalled that “the municipal strategy involves the new construction as well as the improvement or rehabilitation of these playgrounds, in most cases adapting their game modules to the reality of the essential inclusion and accessibility for all girls and children”.
For his part, the first deputy mayor and councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, pointed out that “we are continually working on providing new playgrounds and improving existing ones, since one of our objectives is to protect and promote childhood ” and added that “we conceive these spaces as play areas for children, but also with a function of social cohesion and a meeting point for families”.
They correspond to the project located in Plaza de La Cruz, 192,496.02 euros, which is located in the neighborhood of El Sobradillo, in the Southwest district, which contemplates an execution period of four months, once the reconsideration of the action has been approved. In the case of the one located in Cuesta Piedra, in Mama Loli square, there are 161,618.39 euros, with a completion period of three months.
The capital’s City Council recalls the effort made in drafting another great project, that of the largest inclusive children’s area in Tenerife, which will be executed by the Cabildo in the Santa Catalina park, in La Gallega, for almost one million euros, and which has the positive report from Sinpromi for its universal accessibility.
