SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The evolution of the forest fire declared at dawn last Saturday in the municipality of Puntagorda, on the island of La Palma, continues to be favorable and the extinction device has focused today on consolidating the work carried out to prevent outbreaks by cooling the affected areas.
In statements to the media, the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, has reported that the fire has responded today “with relative calm” despite the fact that winds of about 70 km/h have been registered, although it is taking place at height, not in low areas, which is good news for the performance.
Thus, Sergio Rodríguez highlighted that today the five aerial means have been able to operate and action has been taken at different points to cool those that have been seen with smoke, but without difficulties or revivals.
He also reported that starting at 8:30 p.m. three drones will fly over the affected area to obtain specific information on certain points and tomorrow measurements will be made with portable weather stations to determine the surface wind.
The president of the Cabildo advanced that during the night there will be some 130 troops working on surveillance tasks and acting in the areas that require it, and tomorrow, Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a new Infoca technical meeting where it is expected to make a decision that “can be decisive.”
