Pedro José Pérez Rodríguez, parish priest in Güímar since 2010 and archpriest since 2017, will leave his parish work in the municipality just after the Festivities of Our Lady of El Socorro, this month of September, when he was transferred by the Bishopric to the parishes of Nuestra Señora de El Socorro. Lady of Fatima (Tijarafe), San Miguel Archangel and Our Lady of El Carmen (Tazacorte), on the island of La Palma.
In his farewell message to the parishioners, Pedro Pérez writes: “I want to apologize if I have been able to offend, hurt or make someone suffer, it has been 13 intense years between you. I am very grateful to all of you, for your welcome, care, dedication, lived and celebrated faith, your concern for the things of God and his church. Sorry! Thank you!” he pointed out.
Finally, Pedro Pérez, who these days celebrated the religious acts of San Pedro Apóstol, patron saint of the municipality, asked for a great welcome for “Domingo Miguel González Ruíz, your next parish priest and that together, they go in the footsteps of the Lord, that together To María de El Socorro, these blessed parish communities of Güímar continue to grow”.
Distinction
The Popular Party will lead a proposal for the Güímar City Council to honor the person who was its parish priest for thirteen years. María del Pino del Rosario Delgado and Juan Manuel Pérez González, have been the editors of the honorary proposal, which is being signed by the different political parties, brotherhoods, brotherhoods and groups that want to join this honorary distinction that will be presented these days in the General Registry of the Güímar City Council to be able to debate it in the ordinary plenary session at the end of July.
Although the initiative comes from the Popular Party of Güímar, “we want it to be assumed by everyone without distinction, in recognition of Don Pedro for his service to the Parish Communities of Güímar.”
