He council of Tenerife has approved in the Island Government Council the bases and the call for three subsidies, amounting to 340,810 euros, aimed at the recovery and improvement of native livestock breeds, the traceability of wines and the marketing of agri-food products.
The insular Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, points out that “with the approval of these three subsidies we practically finished with all the aid that had to be obtained by competitive bidding this year.” In this way, “we close our cycle in this Cabildo with everything done and launched, in order to expedite the procedures and that farmers and farmers, ranchers and ranchers, and fishermen and fisherwomen receive aid as soon as possible”.
With regard to aid for livestock feeding, to which 2.5 million euros have been allocated this year, Javier Parrilla is confident that “the next government team will have the diligence to finish the procedures quickly and urgently , in order to respond to the needs of the sector, as this government team has been doing throughout the term”.
Native cattle breeds
Specifically, the bases and the call for subsidies to breeder associations for the recovery and improvement of native livestock breeds, amounting to 150,000 euros“in order to contribute to the defense, protection and preservation of our native breeds, which have a unique genetic heritage in the world,” says Parrilla.
Wine traceability
Secondly, the bases and the call for aid for the control of the vintage traceability of the island’s quality wines, a function performed by the Wine Designation of Origin Management Bodies. This year the Island Corporation will allocate 150,000 euros, which represents an increase of 100% compared to 2022.
Marketing of agri-food products
Finally, the bases and the call for the promotion and improvement of the commercialization of local agri-food products destined for the internal marketendowed with 40,810 euros, and with which it is intended to increase the competitiveness and added value of the products processed on the island, through the improvement of quality, diversification and presentation of the same, which enables the producers have access to a wider range of commercial channels.
