Two people have been arrested for trying to practice a butron in a jewelry store in the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Both were surprised before being able to make the hole in the wall adjacent to the establishment, the National Police reported.
The detainees, a 50-year-old man with a history of robbery and a 29-year-old woman, had arrived from Italy a few days before and had tickets to leave Tenerife for the same afternoon they were surprised.
The operation began after the owner of the premises next to the jewelry store reported that she had found discs of a radial on the ground that had been used on the wall but the hole had not yet been fully opened. The Police established a surveillance device and on October 27 at 7:00 a.m., the agents observed two people approaching the premises.
When they saw that they were trying to enter to continue with the butron, they managed to arrest the man after a brief chase in the downtown area, who was carrying more radio discs in his backpack. Apparently, they intended to finish the butron and consummate the robbery before the opening of the establishment.
The investigators arrested days later the woman, who had stayed in a central hotel with the detained man, whom she accompanied when she tried to access the premises.
The actions have been carried out by national police officers from the Investigation Group of the National Police Station of the South District of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
