Rapes “repeatedly” his nephew in Tenerife

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has submitted a qualification document in which requests a sentence of 12 years in prison for an accused man of sexually assaulting his nephew, under the age of 16, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. According to the letter, the events occurred in 2018 in different places, including the house of the grandmother of the victim in the Tamaimo neighborhood, the defendant’s home and a caravan parked on a family farm. The sexual relations lasted throughout that year until the minor moved to live in London.

Request for protection measures

The Prosecutor’s Office considers that the facts constitute an alleged crime of continued sexual abuse of a child under 16 years of age. Besides the imprisonment, the prosecution requests the imposition of various protection measures. Among them is the prohibition that the defendant approach the minor within 500 meters and communicate with him for a period of 15 years. In addition, the defendant is required to participate in a sex education program for 10 years. Additionally, special disqualification is requested for any profession or trade that involves regular and direct contact with minors, for a period of time that exceeds the duration of the sentence imposed by ten years.

The trial against the defendant is scheduled for next Tuesday at 09:30 in the sixth section of the Provincial Court. At this stage, the relevant evidence will be presented and the parties involved will have the opportunity to present their arguments. The Provincial Court will make a decision based on the evidence presented during the trial.
