SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 30. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The acting president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Matos, presided over this Tuesday, May 30, the inauguration ceremony of the extension building of the parliamentary headquarters, located in the old building of Telefónica and that from now on will house the offices of the parliamentary groups.

The acting president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, congratulated the construction manager, the architect Carlos Schwartz, and his entire team for having modernized “in an exemplary manner” a listed building with a degree of protection and for having turned it into “a building of the XXI century”. Ángel Víctor Torres also highlighted that the inauguration of the extension building of the parliamentary headquarters coincides with the Day of the Canary Islands and with the commemoration of its forty years of autonomy.

For his part, the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Matos, thanked all those who have made it possible for the expansion of the parliamentary headquarters to become a reality today, and stressed that it is a space that symbolizes what they have been these forty years of self-government. Likewise, he showed his satisfaction for completing his term as president of the House with the inauguration of this building that he wished he could show, someday, when he walks with his grandchildren.

Finally, the works manager, Carlos Schwartz, detailed the development of the rehabilitation works, which have lasted for 28 months, and indicated that they have given rise to a space that he hopes will be “stimulating, facilitate the tasks that are to develop in it and finally contribute to making a better Canary Islands”.
