The City Council of La Laguna has completed the renovation work on the children’s playground in the Plaza de La Candelaria, in La Cuesta, in which the Department of Municipal Services has made an investment of 81,680 euros. The new play area, which is already in use, has a large complex of slides, tubes, walkways and stairs.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explains that the intervention has meant the complete renovation of the recreational area, which was already at the end of its useful life after several repairs, which made this action a priority. The park is located in a strategic area of the La Candelaria neighborhood, at the end of the square, at the corner of Calle Machado and Fiesco with Abreu and Valdés, and in the area where the Citizen Center, the church and the sports field. The new children’s area incorporates a large adapted games apparatus for children over three years of age, including those with specific needs, with a combination of up to eight elements and a capacity for more than ten children playing simultaneously. The park set is complemented by a collective seesaw and a nest swing. In addition, special rubber floor tiles have been installed throughout the enclosure to absorb shock in the event of falls, as well as a fence around the entire perimeter of the playground.

The renovated park of the Plaza de La Candelaria has been added to the actions to create and improve more than fifty parks and children’s areas in different towns and neighborhoods of the municipality during this mandate, with the aim of having places of recreation for minors perfectly adapted to their needs, accessible and with all the security guarantees. Among the most recent actions are the renovation of the playgrounds in the Porlier Urbanization and in San Miguel de Chimisay, and the creation of new spaces in the Plaza de Tamarco or the new Parque de La Librea, in Valle de Guerra.

In another order of things, the Business and Entrepreneurship Unit of the Local Economic Development Area of the La Laguna City Council has opened the registration period for the course ‘Business Model and Agenda 2030’, an initiative aimed at micro-enterprises, SMEs and entrepreneurs and that inaugurates the annual calendar of free business training of the Aguere Innovation Hub (Ai-HUB), a program that this year is extended to seven courses.
