The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has just put out to tender a contract in the form of technical assistance to draft and process a minor modification of the Special Plan of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the field of Los Llanos Dock. This modification is due to the request made by the Fred.Olsen company to move its passenger terminal to this space, which is now only allowed for freight traffic.
As explained from the Ports of Tenerife, the contract to modify the Special Plan, already published in the Public Sector Contracting Platform, has a base tender budget of 40,224.98 euros, IGIC included, and a deadline for the execution of said 18 month assignments. Those interested in participating in this call have until June 9, 2023 to submit their proposals.
The drafting and processing of a minor modification of the Special Plan of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife seeks to adjust the planning in a certain area of the port, adapting it to current needs and requirements.
For the president of the Ports of Tenerife, Carlos González, that Fred.Olsen has requested this transfer “is a great initiative”, pointing out that “he has the support of this Port Authority”. In addition, “the transfer to the Los Llanos Dock would also make it possible to carry out the Port of Tenerife Link Dock project. And it is that the necessary surfaces for the operations of the cruise terminal and the ferry terminal integrated in said project cannot be developed jointly with the activity of the two passenger shipping companies that currently operate in the Anaga dock ”, he indicates.
From the Port they add that said transfer to Los Llanos would not interfere with city traffic either, even improving passenger traffic by approaching the Interchange located on Tres de Mayo avenue “and allowing line passengers to connect with other means transportation such as the tram and the bus.
The modification of the planning that is foreseen for the Dársena de Los Llanos will be the third since the entry into force, on December 18, 2014, of the Special Plan. The two previous ones correspond to the one materialized in the functional area of the Valleseco Coast for the execution of the Sol y Sombra project, and the second is being prepared for various modifications in the area of the Dársena Pesquera.
Currently, the Los Llanos Dock hosts, among other uses, those related to general merchandise traffic, uses that will be maintained and are expected to be complemented with that corresponding to passenger traffic. As justified in the document, “recently, it has been deemed convenient to advance in efficiency and protection measures in port operations for inter-island passenger traffic, for which it is necessary for the shipping companies to have their own terminals with the spaces and sufficient facilities. In order to preserve the spaces planned for port-city interaction uses in the Link Dock, it is necessary to relocate the operations of one of the two inter-island traffic shipping companies that operate in the port, resulting in the most suitable place, if not the only one, being the Dock of the Plains”.
