SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Arona City Council commemorated this Friday the seventh anniversary of the collapse of the Julián José building, located in the center of Los Cristianos, which caused the death of seven people.
The event was presided over by the mayor, José Julián Mena, and was attended by members of the corporation, the president of the neighborhood community, Ánima Marrero, relatives of the deceased, and representatives and agents of the Local and National, as well as Civil Guard and Civil Protection troops.
Thus, a minute of silence has been observed and some flowers and candles have been placed on the wall that surrounds the site where the collapsed building was located and later, the beach singer-songwriter Ramón Domínguez sang a song in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
In addition to causing the death of seven people, the collapse of the property forced the eviction of another ninety, also from neighboring properties, and mobilized 250 troops during rescue efforts that lasted several days.
