SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Fire Consortium has completed the construction works of the Güímar Fire Station, an infrastructure that will provide emergency coverage to the municipalities of Fasnia, Güímar, Arafo, Candelaria and Arico.
The opening of this park will entail the incorporation of 10 new firefighters who are included among the 50 troops who have joined the Consortium’s staff this year.
The Consortium of Firefighters has invested approximately three million euros in the creation of this new park, including in this budget the acquisition of the ship, the adaptation works and the supply and endowments of the necessary material and vehicles.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, indicated during the visit to the completion of the work that “the Güímar park comes to cover the demand of the entire region and there will be twenty troops on a rotating basis to guarantee security in this part of the island”.
He also added that “it is expected to incorporate another new park in the west of Tenerife and another one in Arona”.
“On this path we are going to continue advancing, also providing the Consortium with new technical means and vehicles, to continue increasing security on the island,” he said.
In this regard, Martín pointed out that “the evolution and updating of the Tenerife Fire Consortium has been strengthened in these four years with the renewal of vehicles and materials, the inclusion of 50 new troops and the opening of this new park.”
The mayor of Güímar, Gustavo Pérez, highlighted the importance of having this service in the municipality.
“More than 60,000 people live in the Güímar valley and we also have an industrial estate, which made it necessary to have this type of security against possible fires. In addition, in the upper part of the municipality is the Siete Lomas forest area, one of the most important pine forests on the island,” he said.
SHIFTS OF FOUR AGENTS
For this reason, he commented that “having 20 firefighters permanently, in shifts of four people, gives solvency when it comes to resolving any type of incident and provides a lot of security.”
This new park, which will take the name of B6, is located in warehouse number 12, block 15, of the Valle de Güímar industrial estate and it is a rectangular-shaped industrial warehouse with a constructed area of 962.61 square meters and three firefighters and one commander per shift, which adds up to 20 troops assigned to this resource.
In addition, this facility will house a heavy urban pump (BUP), a water pump (with a capacity of 8,000 liters of water), a ladder truck, a light vehicle and a 4×4 multi-purpose vehicle.
As for the building, on the ground floor is the operating area of the park with capacity for five vehicles, storage areas, a compressed air room, a room for rescue material, a washing area and a small climbing wall, in addition to two wet rooms, a training area and changing rooms.
On the first floor there is a living-dining room, a kitchen, a training room, two bathrooms and a rest area, made up of four bedrooms.
