The new tourist information office at the airport Tenerife Sur opened its doors this Monday after a complete renovation with the aim of offering an open, modern and digital service space that facilitates access and information search for visitors, reported the Cabildo de Tenerife in a statement.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Peter Martin, and the mayor of Granadilla de Abona, José Domingo Regalado, inaugurated the new facilities this Monday, with the participation of the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro; the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez; the director of the Tenerife Sur airport, Juan Carlos Peg Ros; as well as representatives of the Círculo de Empresarios y Profesionales del Sur de Tenerife (CEST) and the Center for Initiatives and Tourism in the South of Tenerife.
In June 2022, The Cabildo approved allocating two million euros to the renovation and improvement of the services of the network of tourist information offices on the Island, made up of 36 dependencies distributed throughout the insular geography. The Tourist Office at the Tenerife Sur airport is part of this network, which is managed by both the Island Corporation and the town councils. Due to the situation it was in, it was decided to demolish it and create a new, more open, accessible and digitized one. The project had a investment of 251,381 euros and has been 73% financed by the Government of the Canary Islands and 27% by the Cabildo.
This action will be followed by other renovation and improvement works in the tourist offices of Vilaflor de Chasna, El Médano, El Sauzal and Tenerife Norte. Pedro Martín, president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, assured at the inauguration that his objective is “to transfer a more modern, accessible and digital image of the destination, which was more than necessary.”
