The representation of La Pasión will return this year to Calle Grande in Adeje. The central event with the greatest projection of Holy Week in the South will carry out its usual tour of the town center and will present several novelties, as announced by the City Council.
The acts began with the proclamation of the “exaltation of Holy Week in Adejera” by José Antonio López, who has played the role of Jesus Christ in The Passion for the last 15 years, and Miguel Ángel Navarro, diocesan delegate for historical heritage and parish priest of San Francisco de Asís in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In his speech, López indicated that “representing the role of Jesus was an important milestone in my life, since I am a believer, therefore, when I had the opportunity to do it, I felt an enormous commitment, but at the same time gratitude because I had the opportunity to give back to my people all that they had received from previous generations.”
For his part, Navarro reflected on the most important week in the Christian world, Holy Week, “a time in which the passionate love of Christ becomes the passion of God for men until death, a death that is defeated.” in the resurrection.”
The mayor of the municipality, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, assured that Holy Week in Adeje is a meeting point for residents and tourists: “It is a propitious moment to generate spaces and moments of reflection and serenity, it helps us to delve into many aspects of our humanity, invites us to visualize the day to day from a different perspective”. The main events will take place from Palm Saturday, with the Children’s Passion, at six in the afternoon in the parish of San José de Los Olivos. Next, on April 3, the procession of Jesús Cautivo y Abandonado and Nuestra Señora de La Esperanza will take place at the Hermitage of Hope.
On Holy Thursday the Procession of the Mandate will take place, with Jesus of the Holy Supper, Calvary and Our Lady of La Esperanza. After the celebration of the Passion, on April 7, there will be the Procession of the Holy Burial with Saint John the Evangelist, Our Lady of Mercy, Insignia of the Passion with the Holy Men and Saint Mary, Magdalene, the Holy Sepulcher and the Most Holy Mary of Pains. At midnight the Procession of Silence will be held, with the Virgin of Dolores.
On Sunday, April 23, the Rogation of Our Lady of La Encarnación will take place.
