SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The strike committee of Metropolitano de Tenerife, the company responsible for the tramway and owned by the Cabildo, has announced on Tuesday the breakdown of talks with the company and the call for an indefinite strike, as reported by the Comisiones Obreras union in a statement.
Said committee has justified this decision given the “coercive” attitudes and the taking of “retaliation” by the president and vice president of the company against some workers, which have already been brought to the attention of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Provincial Prosecutor’s Office and the union legal services.
The workers indicate that they are not willing to call off this strike or to sit at a table until the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, takes action on the matter.
Likewise, the strike committee requests the support of the political groups of the Island Corporation to defend the worker Jonathan Abreu and indicates that they will continue to call the information pickets in front of the Cabildo every Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
They also ask citizens to participate in this protest action by sharing the hashtag #TodosSomosAbreu on social networks.
