The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will receive this Friday an unofficial visit from the Swedish Navy training ship, HMS Falken. HMS Falken repeats the itinerary that she already did on her first visit to Santa Cruz in January 2011.
It will arrive at the port of the capital, specifically at the central dock of La Dársena de Los Llanos, at 8:00 a.m. from San Sebastián de La Gomera and will depart on Saturday, February 18 at 6:00 p.m., heading to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
This schooner, whose consignee on the island is Tenerife Offshore and Shipping Agency, was built in the 1940s together with its sister ship, HMS Gladan, and is 40 meters long, 7.20 meters wide and 4.20 meters draft. .
Every year, new sailors, students and cadets are trained on this instruction ship to learn to master multiple navigation instruments such as the compass, radar or GPS, as well as to carry out tasks related to handling the ship, be it casting moorings or taking in sails. , among others.
