The General Directorate of Coasts has initiated the demarcation file for the maritime-terrestrial public domain of the section of the chicharrero coastline between Las Teresitas beach and El Burro beach, which occupies about 1,775 meters, a space that on the map coincides with the area of the coast known as El Balayo beach. This beach is the only one in Tenerife with private access, as the owners who have houses in the area close the entrance that starts from the Igueste de San Andrés road.
Precisely, the clarification of where the public domain begins will allow the Santa Cruz City Council to provide access to this point of the coast, since, at the request of the Plenary, it had already requested both the Insular Water Council of Tenerife, as well as the General Directorate of Coasts, an easement passage, as this access is located on public land.
According to the announcement published by Costas in the Official State Gazette (BOE), 10 people affected by this demarcation are summoned, for next July 5, at the Anaga district office, to attend the act in which they will pay attention to , provisionally, the limits of the maritime-terrestrial public domain in this section of the coast.
At this meeting, the minutes will be drawn up, in which the persons cited may state their agreement or disagreement with the provisional delimitation of the maritime-terrestrial public domain; in case of disagreement, they will have a period of 15 days to make allegations and propose an alternative delimitation with reasons. El Balayo beach has been the subject of numerous consultations and motions in the City Council to resolve its anomalous situation.
