The Council of Tenerife has reopened the three access roads to the Parque Nacional del Teide, as reported by the island corporation through its social networks. The roads remained closed to traffic since this morning due to the presence of ice on the road as a result of the temperatures recorded at the summit as well as the snowfall recorded over the weekend in the area.
Specifically, the TF-21 (La Orotava), TF-24 (La Esperanza) and Chío (TF-38) highways were closed. The latter was the first to reopen shortly after noon today, while the accesses through La Orotava and La Esperanza have been operational for a few minutes.
However, the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is that throughout today both frosts and the fall of precipitation in the form of snow above 1,800 meters will continue to be registered, so it is not ruled out that the roads to the National Park suffer traffic cuts again.
For the moment, the thermometers at the Izaña station came to register almost five degrees below zero, the coldest temperature in the entire island territory.
Already for tomorrow Tuesday, Meteorology expects predominance of cloudy skies in the north of the islands of greater relief where occasional and generally weak precipitations are probable, without ruling out that they are locally moderate. It is not ruled out in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and the rest of the areas, some weak and occasional rain.
The minimum temperatures will suffer a slight rise and the maximum will experience little change. Even so, Weak frosts are expected in the high peaks of Tenerife.
The summit of Tenerife, as well as La Palma, recorded copious snowfall this weekend that turned the landscape white, an image that was also repeated in Lanzarote, an island where the hail surprised the inhabitants, dyeing the usual volcanic black of Timanfaya.
