SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife condemns hate crimes and discrimination on the ‘International Day against LGBTIphobia’ which is celebrated this Tuesday.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, assures in a note that although we are getting “closer to achieving a more inclusive and respectful society, we must still continue working and claiming so that all people can live without fear “.
Nauzet Gugliotta has participated this Tuesday in an event organized at the IES Güímar together with Libertrans to commemorate this day, where students and teaching staff, along with the rest of the educational community of the center, have shown their unanimous rejection of any type of discrimination.
At IES Güímar this week is the ‘Trans Memory Caravan’, an itinerant exhibition that seeks to make diversity visible through the testimonies of people who are part of trans history on the islands.
“On days like this, it’s not time to celebrate, it’s time to claim a more tolerant and respectful society with diversity,” says the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity.
From the Cabildo de Tenerife, in coordination with the entities that collaborate directly with LGBTIQ+ people, the Insular Table is working, which brings together the group in different awareness-raising and visibility actions for conferences such as this Tuesday.
In addition, the deadline has just opened for LGBTIQ+ associations and groups to present their projects to apply for the subsidy to reinforce the associative fabric that the Cabildo launches through the Citizen Participation and Diversity area and which is endowed with 285,000 euros.
