Lope Afonso, candidate of the Popular Party for the presidency of the Cabildo, ratified his “commitment” to the sector and to large works of general interest in a work meeting at the headquarters of the Provincial Federation of Construction Entities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco). Afonso underlined “our vision of responsible and useful politics, that has made it possible to have an insular budget for 2023”. Popular and employers agreed that improving mobility is the great challenge for the Island in the coming years.
The Island Councilor Manuel Fernandez He assured that “we have managed to get the PSOE to get on the train of progress” in reference to the agreement to approve the accounts in exchange, among other things, for promoting guided transport with the feasibility studies of the North and South trains.
The president and vice president of Fepeco, Óscar Izquierdo and Diego Vega, respectively, valued “the responsibility of the Popular Party as an example of public service, which means that institutions should not remain paralyzed for ideological or partisan reasons.”

Both parties shared ideas and approaches in relation to the situation of Tenerife from the economic and social point of view, in addition to reviewing the objectives that must be set by the Cabildo, as the island’s government, for the next four years. Especially, in terms of achieving mobility that is governed by criteria of safety, speed and efficiency, in addition to serving as a territorial backbone.
Lope Afonso assured that the joint work between the administration and the private sector is “essential for the development of the Island” with the objective of “guaranteeing economic progress and the generation of jobtwo of the great concerns of Tenerife society in general ».

Counselor Fernández appreciated that “the position of responsibility has made it possible to have the document that establishes the roadmap for the social and economic future of the Island.”
On the support of the PP to the budgets Óscar Izquierdo valued “a responsible, courageous and risky attitude that, during electoral periods, puts the public service value of politics before the institution so that the institution does not remain paralyzed by ideological or partisan interests”. Diego Vega, for his part, revealed “the predisposition of the PP to understanding, far from tension and focusing on the interest of citizens.”
