The plenary session of the Güímar City Council submitted to debate the technical and administrative clauses of the new contract for waste collection and urban cleaning, counting on the favorable votes of the Government group, which will allow for the next eight years to have at least 35 operators, new technical means, consisting of low-emission or electric vehicles, as well as a large number of adapted and modern machines for the development of street cleaning, and mobile points with the corresponding containerization, adapted to current legislation on management of waste.

In relation to the budget, 2.5 million euros, as this newspaper published, out of around two and a half million, will respond to a service that efficiently and definitively responds to the real needs of a population that has grown considerably in Güímar, and that had been suffering the consequences of jobs that were far from responding to current demands.

The first deputy mayor and councilor for Control of Concessionary Companies, Airam Puerta, indicated that the new waste collection and urban cleaning service has been long overdue, because, like any contract of this magnitude, it faces technical and administrative difficulties in its elaboration, but that, after this first procedure for the bidding and awarding of the service, “the end of a chronic problem in the municipality of Güímar is much closer and will also allow, until the contract is definitively awarded, to supplement it with resources technical and human resources that contribute to a better provision of the public service”.
