The city of La Laguna, after the two-year hiatus forced by the pandemic, recovers this Thursday, January 5, both the Great Parade and the visit of Their Majesties the Three Wise Men of the East to the Town Hall, where they will be received by the mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the members of the Corporation.

The program of events prepared by the Department of Fiestas begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Plaza del Adelantado, where the wait for the Three Wise Men will be enlivened with music, children’s characters and the popular camels of Their Majesties, for which a stable will be set up on one of the sides of the square, so that the boys and girls can see them up close and take pictures with them.
At 11:30 a.m., the Three Wise Men will arrive by vehicle at the Plaza del Adelantado, where they will be received by the mayor and members of the Corporation. In the Plenary Hall, they will sign the City Hall’s Golden Book and will remain there until after 2:00 p.m., receiving the boys and girls, who will be able to deliver their letters and formulate their wishes for the most magical night of the year.
After a short rest to regain strength, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will leave on foot, after 4:00 p.m., towards the Plaza del Cristo along Nava and Grimón streets, accompanied by the royal camels and by a procession of pages and the Los Silos Fanfare. .
Upon arrival at the Royal Sanctuary of Christ, at 5:00 p.m., the traditional act of Adoration of the Magi to the Child Jesus of the Afflicted will take place. From there the Cavalcade will depart at 6:00 p.m. along the usual route. More than 150 people and 30 vehicles will take part in a parade starring the three floats of the Three Wise Men.
The parade will depart from Plaza del Cristo towards Nava and Grimón streets, passing through Plaza del Adelantado and Calle Consistorio to go up Herradores to Calle Tizón and Obispo Rey Redondo again to Plaza del Adelantado, to return via Nava and Grimón to the Plaza del Cristo, where he estimates his arrival at around 8:30 p.m. The City Council will set up an area for people with reduced mobility in the Plaza del Adelantado, so that they can enjoy the Parade without any type of impediment.
On the tour there will be no shortage of animation of fanfares, batucadas and bands of bugles and drums, characters from the world of children’s stories and movies and superheroes. The City Council recovers after several years the participation of the Post Office staff, in charge of collecting and delivering the letters, who participate in the parade together with volunteer firefighters and the local police.
To make the waiting time more bearable, the royal entourage will have an entertainer who will be 15 minutes ahead of the rest of the Parade, entertaining the previous moments and announcing the expected arrival of the Three Kings in the streets of La Laguna.
