Help for Hugh
Jennifer de la Rosa has resorted to the Diputación del Común to mediate in her request for adapted housing for her 16-year-old son who suffers from tetraplegia after suffering an accident when diving into the sea in the Puertito de Güímar, in Tenerife.
Mother and son have moved to Gran Canaria so that the minor is treated in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit of the Insular-Maternal and Child Hospital, and there they live in a shared apartment set up by the Red Cross, details the Common Council in a note.
Jennifer de la Rosa says that her son Hugo has a 93% disability and that until the end of last October he asked for euthanasia, although now he is “struggling physically and psychologically.”
She left her job to dedicate herself exclusively to taking care of Hugo and has been forced to leave her other son in Tenerife.
Given these circumstances, he has requested the collaboration of the Common Deputy, Rafael Yanes, to mediate with the administrations in order to be able to have an adapted home in Tenerife so that the minor can make use of the permits he may have in the future or to When can I return to the island?
Rafael Yanes regrets the situation the family is going through and assures that “since the accident occurred, the Güímar City Council has contacted us so that we can activate some action in relation to this case.”
The Councilor for Social Affairs of Güímar has informed him that the efforts to obtain an adapted home for Hugo are “very advanced”.
Yanes stresses that “the most important thing now is that the family is cared for while the process lasts.”
