Four students from Tenerife will launch the America Scholarships next year in Mexico. The Council of Tenerife The period to attend a call that for the first time offers non-working training practices in the new continent has opened. The proposal, aimed at university graduates and Vocational Training, will be open until June 1.
The CEO of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez, values: “This is the first time that this type of scholarship has been called to gain professional experience in the American continent.” She adds: “Specifically, in this first edition there are four places for job training in Mexico and includes five months of stay and internships in public entities, private companies or entities of the third sector.”
The programme, managed by the Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (Fifede), aims to promote the internationalization of the economy of Tenerife by encouraging the acquisition of knowledge and experience abroad of graduates from the Island, through non-work training practices.
The aid granted is intended to cover expenses, as well as the payment of 700 euros gross per month during the entire period of the training practices. The global aid budget is 32,537 euros.
Requirements
The requirements to apply for the scholarship include having habitual and uninterrupted residence in Tenerife for at least the last year, have a C1 level in English and an accrediting degree from one of the following branches of knowledge: Social and Legal Sciences; Arts and Humanities; Sciences; Health Sciences; Engineering and architecture.
Graduates of Vocational Training in intermediate or higher level Training Cycles. In the cases of qualifications obtained abroad, it will be necessary to prove their homologation. Likewise, if an equivalent degree is claimed, this characteristic must be accredited in terms of academic similarity. The bases and requirements to apply for these scholarships can be consulted through the Fifede web portal (www.fifede.org).
Acción Exterior approved this new aid package to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and experience in foreign countries. Becas América intends to provide opportunities for job training in companies located in Mexico. This is the first Latin American destination chosen based on different collaboration agreements. The initiative was born with a vocation for continuity and the idea of opening up to other countries.
The aid will be 700 euros per month for the beneficiaries during the practices. The amount is paid as per diem to cover maintenance and transportation expenses. It also includes coverage for other expenses such as plane tickets, rental accommodation in the home, Travel Assistance and Civil Liability insurance and visa, and, if necessary, mandatory vaccinations.
International mobility
Acción Exterior promotes international exchange and mobility for Tenerife students. For example, with the already traditional Africa Scholarships. The next course will be 28 students from Tenerife awarded scholarships by the Cabildo with this format. To these four to Mexico must be added the 24 to Africa, an already traditional destination. The deadline to apply for these scholarships has already closed, at the end of April, and now the process of evaluating the applications submitted is in full swing. They will facilitate internships in companies in countries such as Ghana, The Gambia, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Cape Verde.
The academic exchange offer in Tenerife does not end there. This is the meaning of the exchange trip of twelve young people from Tenerife who inaugurated the Stars Project in Indonesia last November, the purpose of which is to broaden the horizon of the training of island youth towards Asia with the tourism sector as its axis. Three other boys and girls are currently living a similar experience to acquire professional knowledge in the Asian country in the fashion and hospitality sectors.
