This week the pathology repair work began in the municipal building of the School of Music of Puerto de la Cruzlocated on Pérez Zamora street.
The Councilor for Sustainable City, David Hernández, stressed that, “prior to contracting the works, the area opted for a pathological study to verify the state and assess the possible risks of the property, in order to guarantee safety in use from space”.
The councilor of the Local Autonomous Organization (OAL), Noemí Fernández, highlighted the importance of this action, which comes to meet a demand for the building to be in perfect condition “and thus the teaching and training work can be carried out”. After tendering the drafting of the project last year, the Sustainable City area identified pathologies in the property, consisting of problems of water leaks from the main roofs and other specific ones such as cracks and corrosion in the structure. Based on this study, work has been done on the contracting of the execution of pathology repair works in the building, awarded to Sermarther for an amount of 51,449 euros.
“The works that are being developed are necessary to amend the impairment produced by the natural use of the facilities, as well as to guarantee the conservation of the property and the continuation of the services offered in it,” explained Hernández.
In relation to the scope of the works to be carried out, the surface waterproofing of the roofs will be carried out, the repair of the pillars and joists affected by reinforcement corrosion and the repair of the crack detected in a beam.
Instrument renewal
On the other hand, and for the second consecutive year, the City Council has dedicated an item to the renewal of the School’s instruments, in which more than 300 students receive classes. This year a small part of instruments has been purchased for all classrooms, among which are an electric piano, a djembe, two bongos, a percussion table, a wireless microphone or a speaker.
