José Gumersindo García, shortly after being re-elected mayor of Candelaria (2011), visited the schools in the municipality and promised the young schoolchildren the construction of a large park for scooters (skate park). Two years later, the only thing that was built (5,700 euros) was a half pipe (half tube) near the pediment, where almost ten years later the current government group will make that unfulfilled promise come true, one of many, when we talk about facilities, in candlemas. The Councilor for Sports, Manuel González, announces that its construction will be tendered in the first half of 2023.
For now, in the coming weeks the actions to reinforce the retaining wall of the existing wall between the Frontón and José Rodríguez Ramírez street in Punta Larga will end, with an investment amounting to 43,847.19 euros and which is carried out thanks to municipal savings. “The execution of this work is essential to be able to carry out the skatepark project, which is part of the Island Program of Outdoor Sports Facilities of the Cabildo de Tenerife and has a budget of 198,269.38 euros, of which the The City Council contributes 57,709.38 euros, and the Cabildo, 140,560 euros”, recalled the mayoress Mari Brito.
The Councilor for Sports, Manuel González, recalls that the design chosen by the citizens for the Candelaria Skatepark was Bowl, designed by Daniel Yábar, a renowned architect of this type of facility, also counting on the advice of José Luis de La Rosa , a reference on the island in this discipline.
