Maria Luzmother of a 42-year-old man with severe syndrome of autism (TORCH)has filed a brief in the Guimar Town Hall for the change of location of the car park for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM) in front of the municipal swimming pool, of which his son is a user.
The change is due to the regulations that require the ford to be placed on a sidewalk where the driver of the vehicle can exit, explained María Luz at the City Hall, although she points out that, “in this case, I am the driver, but who has the disability is my son Fernando, who now has to go out where the cars pass, on a street with a lot of traffic at any time of the day, with institutes, a medical center, a sports center, a soccer field, a field and a swimming pool, and with the risk of being run over to cross to the other sidewalk, where the entrance to the pool is. I try to pull for him, but sometimes he escapes me, because he has no control, since he doesn’t understand the danger,” says the mother.
“I can’t have control with him -he continues-, because he starts to run away from me and I understand that another ford can be inhabited to be able to take him to the pool. Right now I prefer to park the car where I can and walk him, with the consequence that he doesn’t walk very well and has to lean on my shoulder, because if he doesn’t he runs away from me. There are 90 kilos on the shoulder, but I prefer that to being run over by a car, he can fall, pull for me or whatever, ”he says.
María Luz asks the area councilor to study the issue and to “replace the car park where it was before, 40 years ago,” she says, after getting a vertical sign to be placed there.
