SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Education and Youth area, has opened the deadline for young people between 18 and 35 years of age to sign up for the Merkarte program. It is a project that helps new artists to join the art market through different actions that promote and disseminate their works. The registration period is open until November 16 through the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo.
The Island Councilor for Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, explained that Merkarte is “a window through which young people can look into the complex art market, which is why the Cabildo continues to promote this program that promotes the works of emerging creators to boost their professional development and promote local art.
The Minister stressed that creators from all disciplines can participate, since the project includes the modalities of painting, sculpture, graphic work, which includes photography, engraving or drawing, and digital art, understood as a video format, multichannel video or virtual reality. .
The insular director of the area, Isabel Bello, assured that there are many actions that are carried out within the framework of this project, but the Christmas market stands out, in which each edition the participants present and sell their works to the public, obtaining the full amount of sales with prices set by themselves. In addition, she wanted to remember that agreements have been signed with different hotel chains so that young artists can exhibit their works and even decorate the facilities with their creations.
Specifically, Merkarte is divided into two aspects. On the one hand, there are the educational tools that reach young people through training pills, intensive courses, spaces for debates or seminars that revolve around topics related to the artistic and professional field, such as entrepreneurship, activism socio-cultural, communication, organization of events, or copyright, among others.
On the other side, we find the artistic impulse through exhibitions organized at different times of the year that promote and market the works of the participants in the program. In this regard, at the last Christmas market, held at the Casa Lercaro in La Laguna, 609 works by 30 different artists were sold for an amount of 12,202 euros. In addition, other events have been organized throughout the year such as Merkarte_Expo on Tour or specific exhibitions at the Puerto de la Cruz Customs House.
The registration period to be part of the program will be open until November 16 at the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo de Tenerife: https:/sede.tenerife.es/es/tramites-y-servicios.
