SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago Sesé, as a result of the latest data from the EPA, has stated that the uncertainty and foreseeable moderation in consumption that is expected for the coming months and, especially, for the year 2023 begin to be reflected in employment, so measures will have to be taken to maintain, at least, the recovery of the labor market experienced over the last year”.
In this sense, Santiago Sesé believes that at this time “it is important to reach an income pact between economic and social agents to partially offset the effects of inflation, but without putting the maintenance of companies and their workers at risk.” If we do not reach agreements in this regard, it will be very difficult for companies to bear the excessive increase in costs, putting their continuity and that of their employees at risk,” he added.
Likewise, it considers that, within the Contingency Plan to mitigate the effects of the price increase, “it would be opportune not only to incorporate incentives or stimuli to maintain employment, but also to analyze to what extent the social costs that companies are assuming could be reduced and that, far from slowing down, they are increasing, as evidenced by the latest unilateral increase that the executive has applied to the maximum prices.
Finally, he believes that it would be timely “to carry out an analysis of what are the reasons for the high growth in absenteeism in the last year after the pandemic, since it also influences the productivity of both the public and private sectors, fully affecting the ability to maintain a competitive economic activity in these times”.
