SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 13 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Governing Council today Thursday approved the decree establishing the new organization and curriculum for Early Childhood Education on the islands, derived from the adaptation of these teachings to the LOMLOE. The document thus passes the last step, after being favorably informed by the Consultative Council of the Canary Islands and by the School Council of the Canary Islands.
The greatest novelty incorporated in this decree is the development of a common curriculum for all students who attend both the first and the second cycle of the Early Childhood Education stage, to which the key competences are incorporated as a fundamental element, whose development must begin from the very beginning of schooling.
The teaching objectives are aimed at affective development; to emotional management; to movement, gesture and rhythm, and habits of body control; to the manifestations, both oral and written, of communication and language; to the elementary guidelines of coexistence and social relationship, and to education in values; to the discovery of the closest environment, of the living beings that coexist in it and of the physical and social characteristics, paying special attention to the specific features of the heritage of the Canary Islands; to education for responsible and sustainable consumption, and to health promotion and education. Likewise, they encourage boys and girls to have a positive, balanced, egalitarian image of themselves and respect differences, as well as to acquire personal autonomy.
As it is a decree, the resulting text is submitted to citizen participation, to the assessment of all the Government ministries, the Canary Islands Consultative Council and the Canary Islands School Council. In this way, although the process is more laborious, it is also more guaranteeing and collects the contributions of the different sectors of the educational community.
