an agent of the National Police will receive compensation of 19,000 euros for the damages suffered when intervening in a incident between two brothers in which the woman’s husband later participated to separate them.
As a result of the injuries, the agent was unable to work for 170 days due to pain in his left arm, in addition to suffering tendinosis, damage to the wrists, legs and erosion of the left forearm, among others. He also broke his cell phone.
The events took place in the vicinity of Chapatalin Santa Cruzon May 17, 2016 at 10:45 p.m. when the agents were called by the neighbors upon hearing a noisy altercation.
Once the agents arrived instead of managing to calm the contenders, the result was the opposite.
For this reason, they began to scold and struggle with each other so that a policeman received a punch in the face that made him fall to the ground, where they continued to attack him.
At that moment another officer came who was also injured when proceeding to arrest the three citizens.
Upon arrival at the police station, the altercation continued and the woman tried to attack a police officer, who also suffered injuries that would take 7 days to heal, during which she was unable to work.
Another of the agents presented injuries such as tendinitis, wrist sprain and trauma, which kept him out for a month. This agent also broke the screen of her mobile phone.
The trial held last Tuesday concluded in a sentence of conformity by accepting the citizens who had committed a crime of attack on authority and minor injuries.
In solidarity, they must pay 19,000 euros to the agent who was most damaged and 2,000 and 500 to the other two. Undue delay was taken into account as a mitigating factor in the imposition of sentences.
At first, an accusation was brought against the policemen, considering that they had acted with excessive violence, but finally the report that they themselves had prepared in which they supported their actions was imposed.
The convicts will also have to do 3 months of work for the community.
The requests of the Prosecutor’s Office in principle went in the direction of imposing a total of three years in prison on the accused and the payment of compensation to the policemen that ranged between 3,030 euros, plus what was set in the execution of the sentence, and 17,000 and 707 euros.
