SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife requests a sentence of 25 years in prison for a man who beat a taxi driver to death in the garage of a residential building in Granadilla.
The events occurred in July 2019 and according to the indictment, collected by Europa Press, the defendant – who is in reported provisional detention and without bail – entered the community garage shortly before 03:30 a.m. and “brutally” attacked the victim by surprise.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the man had the “firm purpose” of ending the life of the taxi driver, who at no time had the possibility of defending himself from the attack due to the physical strength of the accused.
In fact, once he was lying on the ground but still alive, the accused hit him repeatedly with multiple and repeated kicks to the head, neck and chest, knowing that it caused “excessive pain that prolonged his agony”.
Due to the attack, the man suffered multiple craniofacial, neck and chest injuries, with multiple rib fractures that produced a traumatic and hemorrhagic shock that determined his death before 05:00.
The victim had an adult daughter and had lived with her sentimental partner for eight years.
The Prosecutor’s Office considers that the facts constitute a crime of murder and also requests the payment of compensation of 100,000 euros for the victim’s daughter and partner.
The trial, with a Jury Court, starts next Monday at 09:30 am in the sixth section of the Provincial Court.
