Tenerife starts the second weekend of October loaded with activities at various points on the island. After more than two years of hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, leisure returns to the streets, theaters and halls of the different municipalities to delight the young and old at home.
Full moon in Santa Cruz
The chicharrera capital once again hosts its famous Full Moon with concerts, festivals, markets and workshops that will take place in 13 locations. The revitalization initiative will invade from this Friday October 7 and until Sunday 9 the streets of downtown Santa Cruz, with more than 256 hours of activities. The party begins at 5:00 p.m. with the Beer Festival in the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena, a festival dedicated to gastronomy and beer, which It will last until 2:00 p.m. It will have two stages for concerts, DJ’s, performances and monologues. It will also take place on Saturday and Sunday. Likewise, at 8:00 p.m., in the Plaza de La Candelaria, performances by El Bembé and La Sabrosa will take place.
On Saturday, the activities will take place between 11:00 and 2:00, in many parts of the capital. Le Good Market, a gastronomic and trend market, will be installed in the García Sanabria park. The Kids Fest will be held in the Plaza del Príncipe, for the little ones. Different groups will perform in the Plaza del Chicharro, such as Los Rolling del Son or Post Code. Numerous performances will take place in Plaza de La Candelaria, such as those by DJ KISS, Hechizo or the popular Spanish group Seguridad Social (10:20 p.m.).
In the Spain Square a craft market will be located. At the Beer Fest, in Alameda, Los Vándalos, Los Lola, Mel Ömana, Joe’s Band and Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto will perform, as well as DJ’s David Laurentini, Juana La Cubana, Renzzo El Selector and Beat Creator.
The Santa Cruz Asian Festival will be held on Avenida Marítima, inspired by Asian culture and aimed at a younger audience, whose programming includes, among other activities, the Red Heart Gala, karaoke performances, concerts, workshops, video game areas, Asian make-up and virtual reality. The Market will open at night, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Luis Ramírez and his group, Renzzo El Selector and Grupo La Calle will perform.
As for Sunday, the day will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will include numerous activities such as Le Good Market in the García Sanabria park, the children’s area in the Plaza del Príncipe, the craft market in the Plaza de Spain or the Santa Cruz Asian Festival on Avenida Marítima, among others. Violetas, Los Diablos and Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto will perform in the Plaza de La Candelaria. In the Alameda, within the framework of the Beer Fest, Picaretas Reggae, Escuela de Calor, Abubukaka, Omayra Cazorla and Aarón Gómez will perform.
Clownbaret Festival
The International Clownbaret Festival (FIC) celebrates its XVI edition from last October 3 and until next 16 in different areas of the islands of TenerifeLa Palma, La Gomera and Gran Canaria, which has made the Archipelago the clown capital of the world Throughout the different days the public will be able to enjoy 132 performances and activities by 29 international, national and local companies. The meeting returns to the attendees the possibility of enjoying all these proposals without any type of restrictions and recovers the itinerant and street shows.
This weekend the activities will be distributed in Tenerife in several municipalities, although Adeje will be the one that takes the main course of the festival.
There will also be room for music lovers. This Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m., the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín hosts the concert by Carlos Meneses Trío at the Canarias Jazz Showroom and just one hour later, at 8:30 p.m., the Teatro Leal de La Laguna will receive on its stage the new and great star of Lisbon fado, Beatriz Felício, within the Festival Fado de Canarias. For lovers of traditions there is also a plan. The Tajaraste Group performs from 8:00 p.m. in the CajaCanarias Santa Cruz Cultural Space. With its shows, the musical group has participated in the most important folkloric events of the Archipelago and has been a representative of the Islands in multiple national and international festivals.
Humor will also come together this Friday at the hands of Dani Martín, who with his monologue ‘Ya lo digo yo’, speaks humorously about everything that we overlook, an innovative show in which improvisation is present throughout throughout the show. The appointment will be at 8:30 p.m. in the Insular Pavilion of Tenerife Santiago Martín.
Saturday October 8
This Saturday the activities will also be distributed throughout all the municipalities, in addition to the aforementioned Plenilunio and FIC, other proposals will take over other corners of the Island.
Music, theater and humor will also take place on this day. The Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín will host the presentation of Kike Perdomo’s album, with new sounds within jazz, made in New York and Tenerife. The recital will take place at 7:30 p.m. The chicharrero neighborhood of San Andrés, for its part, will receive comedian Jorbe Bolaños from Teldense to amaze the audience with his new show. It will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Old San Andrés Cinema (Reservations at 617 72 34 74). Also in Santa Cruz, the Guimerá Theater will host on its stage the play that represents the adaptation of Ernst Lubitsch’s work, ‘To be or not to be’, with Juan Echanove. The show will take place on both Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
The little ones in the house also have plans designed for them. Two children’s parties, one at the Barrio Nuevo Sports Center (La Laguna) on both Saturday and Sunday, with bouncy castles and children’s workshops, and another in Barranco Hondo, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. It will also have bouncy castles, a workshop and face painting. After this party, there will be, starting at 11:00 p.m., a festival with the Acapulco orchestra.
Last but not least, concerts and festivals will also liven up Tenerife on Saturday. This is the case of the Youth Concert of the Patron Saint Festivities of Adeje, which will take place at 10:00 p.m. in the municipality’s Plaza de España and will feature Dj Juacko and Empty Bottles and Ptazeta as the main course.
Two years after the covid made a dent in the cultural sector, the municipality of Tegueste finally recovers one of its most emblematic events: the Ropavieja Music Festival. It will be from 7:00 p.m. on the esplanade that is next to the House of the Zamorano. Access will be completely free on a day that will be completed with parallel activities planned from shortly after noon. The 2022 poster will feature the participation of artists such as Dactah Chando (reggae), ANTI Project (fusion between folklore and hip hop), Mollo & The Freestyle Poodoo Experts (rock, funk, soul), Lajalada & Aníbal Llarena (folk and electronic), Néstor Rodríguez (rock and roll) and Marcel Dj, who will be in charge of closing the evening with the greatest hits of electronic music from the 90s and 2000s.
On the other hand, the XIII edition of Taco Suena Rock Fest will also be held, where rock and metal once again shake hands at this free Tenerife festival starting at 6:00 p.m. in El Polvorín. The bands confirmed for this edition are Avulsed, Muro, Doctor Yao, Abuela Muerte, Conflictivo, Dead Relic and Revenge and Desire.
La Orotava, for its part, becomes a nerve center and a must-see in the north this weekend, since you can enjoy the Orotava Beer Festival on Saturday and the great sale party, Diversaldo on Sunday. The Constitution Plaza will host, from Saturday 8, from 5:00 p.m. Y until 01.00 on Sunday 9, the fourth edition of the great beer festival with various craft beer firms, and gastronomic spaces. And in addition, on Saturday night you can enjoy the performance of DK’s Bobby BoB and Renzzo El Selector, while on Sunday as closing the group ‘water from the jet‘.
Sunday October 9
Inside of the Open Sea Festivalthe renowned soprano Ainhoa Arteta will delight attendees loyal theater with his amazing voice. The list of venues in which she has performed is dizzying: from the Metropolitan Opera to Carnegie Hall, passing through the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper and the Scala in Milan, among others. This has allowed him to put himself in the shoes of the main characters in operas such as La Traviata, La Bohème, Romeo et Juliette and Manon Lescaut. The concert will take place at 8:00 p.m.
La Orotava will host the second edition of its Beer Festival, which will be joined by a new edition of the great Trade Fair of the North of Tenerife, that fuses fun with the sale of products at low prices. Between the 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. hours will take place in the downtown area between the streets of Escultor Estévez Bridge, El Calvario, Avenida de Canarias, San Agustín and Plaza de la Constitución. The more than 60 participating local companies will be distributed in these spaces of the hull. Among other things you can buy sports items, bazaar, jewelry, cosmetics, electronics, aesthetics, computers, toys, crafts, pastries, textiles, footwear, fishing items, typical costumes, hardware, accessories, watches, fixtures, decoration, fashion children’s and second-hand objects, along with real estate agencies, opticians, stationery stores, hairdressers, health stores and second-hand vehicles. In addition, the shops in the Villa that want to open their doors can do so during the same hours.
Throughout the day there will be different children’s activities for the whole family on Calle San Agustín (on the side of the square), and to close a fashion show will be held on the façade of the Church of San Agustín, with the presence from many of the fashion companies participating in DiverSaldo.
Barranco Hondo continues with different acts on this day that will take place a festival enlivened by Pepe Benavente and subsequent procession.
The Plaza de España in Adeje will host, from 9:00 p.m., a light and musical show with drones in honor of the Virgen de la Encarnación and subsequent concert and festival by Tejina and Toke Latino.
