SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Antonio Olivera, admitted this Thursday that the migrant reception system organized by the Ministry of Migration works “adequately” after having faced this legislature with the dismantling of the network by the last PP government.
In a press conference to give an account of the agreements of the Governing Council, he specified that the latest statements by Minister José Luis Escrivá, in which he denied that there were migratory problems in the archipelago, were limited to the areas of his competence, which is “provide adequate spaces” for migrants.
In this sense, he pointed out that “the panorama and the resources have improved ostensibly” because there are places available, collaboration with social entities and migrants rotate in such a way that the “regrettable images” of the overcrowding of the Arguineguín dock are not reproduced. .
Olivera understands that migratory movements are going to continue in the world “as long as there are wars, hunger and complicated circumstances for life” and in the Canary Islands it is combined that there is peace, security and the possibility of leading a “more complete” lifestyle.
Thus, he has insisted that the problem of migration is “at the origin, not at the destination” and for this “it is key” that the European Union (EU) “make policies in Africa” to stabilize the area, generate peace and perspectives of progress.
