The Town Hall and the City Hall of Santa Cruzeach in their respective plenary sessions, yesterday approved institutional motions in which it was agreed to sign an agreement between both institutions to jointly tackle the rescue of the surplus taxi licenses in the capitalwhich is estimated at 150. The Cabildo undertook to finance 45% of the total amount of the redemption of these permits, as requested by the Santa Cruz City Council, which, in turn, included it in its agreement plenary.
Both institutions agreed to send as soon as possible to the Island Corporation all the necessary documentation to prepare the file that includes both the final number of licenses to be redeemed and the total amount of that operation. In the motion of the Chicharrero Consistory, the financing of that 45% that the Cabildo already collects in its plenary agreement is also requested.
According to the numbers handled by the capital, until the definitive study of the cost of rescuing each license is obtained, the estimate made on a cost of 40,000 euros per permit shows a total amount that could be reached of more than four million euros.
Once the agreement is approved, the Cabildo is requested to contribute, in advance, its part of the financing.
