The royal council announces that the neighbors of The Realejos that install photovoltaic panels in their homes will pay half of the Real Estate Tax (IBI), popularly known as the contribution, from the year 2023. This 50% bonus will be applied for a period of five years. From the local government (PP) it is emphasized that the objective of this measure is to encourage measures to fight climate change and promote the reduction of total carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the locality.

The Consistory of Los Realejos will address in the next ordinary plenary session the initial approval of the regulation that develops the regulatory ordinance for the installation of photovoltaic panels and their corresponding bonuses, which will contemplate this 50% reduction in the IBI for five years for those households that incorporate them, as well as a 95% bonus on the corresponding ICIO for the relevant installation works of these solar energy collection devices.

“This measure is based on the precepts of the international commitment of the Covenant of Mayors for the environment to which our municipality is adhered, as a way to continue encouraging with small actions at the local level a new scenario of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency necessary and inalienable for our present and future, “says the mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo Gonzalez (PP).

The Councilor for Finance, Dario Perezadds that “the 50% bonus referred to may be applied in the Tax on Real Estate (IBI) of an urban nature and residential use from the next financial year 2023 in those homes in which photovoltaic panels have been installed for the electrical use of energy from the sun, for 5 years.

The tax for installation works is also reduced by 95%

The application of this bonus will be conditional on the installations for heat production including collectors that have the corresponding homologation. by the competent administration. In addition, as each work has to pay a municipal tax called ICIO (on constructions, installations and works), in this case, the one corresponding to projects for the installation of photovoltaic panels with the corresponding homologation, “will have a 95% bonus, with which that taxpayers for this type of facility would pay only 5% of the ICIO for the ICIO, “adds Pérez.

During the last few weeks, The City Council of Los Realejos has held meetings with officials of the Tenerife Tax Consortium «in order to agree on and define these next bonuses applicable to the aforementioned municipal taxes».
