The secretary general accuses the president of making unilateral decisions “without the rest of the government knowing”
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The secretary general of the Canary Coalition (CC), Fernando Clavijo, affirms that the central government is “overwhelmed” after passing the pandemic and now facing the energy crisis and inflation and also with President Pedro Sánchez “cloistered in Moncloa”.
In an interview granted to Europa Press on the occasion of the new political course, the senator for the autonomous community points out that PSOE and United We Can make up a “sui generis” government with 22 ministries “and without anyone directing the orchestra.”
He accuses Sánchez of making decisions “without the rest of the government knowing” that later “is forced to say what the president says” and now also with a vice president — Labor Minister Yolanda Díaz — “who also seeks his political space and then launches measures that are discredited” by other members of the government.
“We are in the middle of a storm and not only do we not know where we want to go, but there are 22 people at the helm of a storm, that is the best recipe for failure, without clear ideas, without a fixed course, denying each other “, indicates.
Clavijo gives as an example that it has gone from saying that there will be no energy supply problems to ‘fighting’ with France for the ‘midcat’, that inflation was not going to rise that much and is already over 10% or that there would be no restrictions and then the air conditioning is set at 27ºC. “This generates discredit and distrust in the public,” he commented.
Regarding relations with Morocco, he criticizes Sánchez’s diplomatic “turn” “without consulting anyone, as he does things, he decides them, period”, predicting that “one day” it will be seen “what is behind” those agreements.
In his opinion “he has sold the Saharawi people” and has gotten the Canary Islands “into a problem due to international waters” and with the regional government excluded from the commission, and irregular immigration has increased according to data from the Ministry of the Interior.
“It has gone down with the Peninsula, maybe that is what it was looking for, to solve a problem with the Peninsula at the expense of the Canary Islands”, recalling cases in the past that have harmed the islands such as agreements on tomatoes, canneries or prospecting.
Clavijo has the “impression” that “the priority for Spain is not the Canary Islands but to solve its problems on the Peninsula” and in the specific case of relations with Morocco “all” the members of the regional pact are against –ASG with nuances –.
PSOE CANARIO: OBEDIENT AND QUITE SUBMISSIVE
“The only one who is in favor is the PSOE and because they are ordered from Madrid and since they are quite obedient and quite submissive boys they are not going to protest,” he details.
The nationalist leader is also critical of the recent transfer of powers to Costas because the central government “keeps a piece of the cake” and leaves control of “hammocks and umbrellas” to the islands, since all strategic projects “are going to depend on the State because there has to be a prior and binding report from Costas”.
He also denounces that the central government is going to assume 25 million euros and “it will probably be more” for which he regrets that the transfer does not “have all the depth and delegation” that the new Statute of Autonomy allows.
“That would be a shock to manage our coastline because for a community that we are an archipelago, together with tourism, it would be very positive,” he concludes.
