VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), 10th July (EUROPA PRESS) –
Early on Wednesday, a small boat carrying 53 migrants, two of whom had passed away, reached the port of La Restinga in the El Hierro municipality of El Pinar. This information was confirmed by sources from Maritime Rescue, the Red Cross, and 112 Canarias.
An alert was raised by a fishing vessel operating in the vicinity, which sighted the small boat less than 500 meters from the harbour. Subsequently, the Salvamar Adhara was dispatched and safely guided the small boat to its berth at the port.
The medical team stationed at the dock, comprising staff from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, the Red Cross, and Primary Care, provided assistance to the migrants. Two individuals were then taken to the island hospital due to moderate hypothermia.
