The General Directorate of Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands has opened a sanctioning file against the company promoting the tourism project Cradle of the Soulwhich has begun to be built in El Puertito de Adeje, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports. The sanction proposal is due to the destruction of an archaeological site and can reach a maximum amount of 600,000 euros. The Executive now gives the company a period of 15 days to present allegations and in the event that the file ends with the sanction, it must pay for the replacement of the damage caused in the area.
The General Directorate of Heritage has verified that the developer started the works without a favorable report on archaeological heritage from the Cabildo de Tenerife, without the advice of an archaeologist on site and, apparently, with full knowledge of the existence of archaeological elements and ethnographic.
The works of the tourist urbanization were paralyzed in a precautionary way in May by the Cabildo as a result of the denunciation of the Tegüico Patrimonial Association and once the suspension of a part of the land was lifted, an ecological camp in the area tries to prevent the works.
