Grassroots Unionists (SB), a majority force among the workers, and the employers of the Ashotel accommodation sector, and the Aero restaurant and leisure sector, signed last Friday a Pre-agreement in the negotiating commission to ratify the collective agreement for the hotel industry in Santa Cruz of Tenerife for the next four years. The document must now be ratified by the assemblies of delegates in the different work centers. SB is the majority in the union representation, with ten delegates, for three that it has Workers’ Commissions and the two of the General Union of Workers (UGT).
The pre-agreement has been reached in less than two months of negotiation and should provide stability with the four-year validity to the sector that reaches recovery in 2022. There are the occupancy and visitor data with figures similar to 2019, the period before the covid pandemic.
the deal establishes the same economic revision as the previous agreement of 10.25% in the four years of validity. Specifically in each annuity 3%, 2.75%, 2.5% and 2%). The time frame established in 2018 ranged in an increase between 5 and 20 euros. The new structure of salary groups and classification of companies determines an increase of 20% in the restoration.
It includes a new additional linear increase in the base salary of 15 euros that will be absorbable within the scope of the supplements established in the salary agreements and linked to article 32 of the hospitality agreement. This is equivalent to starting a negotiation in the companies after the signing of the agreement. In case of not signing a new salary agreement within it before December 31, they will be automatically extended with the same validity and annual economic review established in the agreement.
The salary revision, despite the current inflationary process, which affects all productive lines, is established at 14.75% for the accommodation sector and 23.5% in restaurants,
The new agreement lowers temporary hiring to 10%, with the exception of substitution, and adapts the discontinuous permanent contract to the new labor reform. Likewise, the tasks of the chambermaids are reduced. The agreement, if ratified by the assemblies, will be signed in early September.
