Tenerife received this week a dozen travel agents from the United States with the aim of getting to know the Island from a perspective of excellence through its premium offer and environmental, social and cultural sustainability. This is a visit organized by the Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife, in collaboration with the tour operator GoGo Vacations and United airlines, which has been connecting the island with New York by direct flight since June 9, and whose chief Salesman Michael Scott has also traveled with the expedition.
To show the insular diversity, a program was organized that includes visits to emblematic historic centres, such as La Laguna or Garachico, the Teide National Park, the Masca Farmhouse or the Los Gigantes Cliffs. In addition, they will have the possibility of carrying out different gastronomic tastings and activities related to nature and the sea. The representatives of the travel agencies will also be able to learn about the quality of the accommodation plant, as well as its offer of day and night leisure.
For the Island Director of Tourism, Laura Castro, “the fact that this group of agents, dedicated to such a specific segment, get to know the Island is an opportunity to show that we have a destination committed to sustainability, a quality offer and excellence for a traveler with high purchasing power which, in the case of the United States, is a profile in which we are very interested in continuing to attract”.

Pérez insisted, “however, part of the strategy for consolidating the route between New York-Newark and Tenerife consists of training professionals in the sector on the enormous transversality and diversity of the destination at origin, so these valuable visits are add to said strategy and improve contact with the Island.”
