La Villa y Puerto has lived this weekend the big days of the San Roque festivities. On Friday he did it with the Fiestas de las Tradiciones and on Saturday with the Pilgrimage Chica, the first occasion in which the residents of the municipality took to the streets and filled the town as they had not done since 2019.

Hours later, the situation was repeated at the Dance of the Magicians, held in a square in San Roque full of magicians and magicians who enjoyed the music of Pepe Benavente, the Guaracha orchestra and the Saoco group and lasted until dawn to deliver the straws to the patron saint, as tradition marks.

However, today is the most anticipated day, with the celebration of the pilgrimage, in which the illusion of the garachinques is multiplied because they will once again shout ‘Viva San Roquito’ louder after a three-year break due to the pandemic.

They will do it very early, at 08:00, with the Garachico Musical Group. At 9:30 a.m. the pilgrims’ mass will take place in the Plaza de San Roque, in which hundreds of devotees and magicians will approach the hermitage to later accompany the patron saint to the Matriz de Santa Ana parish where another Eucharist will be celebrated at from 12.00 noon.

It will be at its end, around 2:00 p.m., when the main streets of the Villa and Puerto will be filled with magicians, carts and teams, parrandas, musical groups and thousands of tourists who do not want to miss this tradition, which is celebrated every August 16th.

Reinforcement of the Titsa line 363

For this, the company Titsa will reinforce the service of line 363, which connects Puerto de la Cruz-Icod de los Vinos-Garachico-Los Silos-Buenavista.
The special operation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be adapted to user demand, expanding the usual service offer by 5,000 additional seats throughout the day, until 11:00 p.m., when the last special departure from Garachico is scheduled, bound for Puerto de la Cruz and Buenavista.
In case of collapse due to excess private vehicle traffic, the TF-42 highway will be closed to traffic, between kilometers 0 and 7.8, except for public transport vehicles and goods.
