Hemodonación insists on the need to have blood donations from groups O+ and A+

The Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandsinsists to the population on the need to go and donate blood during this month of August, given the decrease in the levels of stock of Canary Transfusion Center.

Thus, it is recalled that in the Canary Islands three hundred daily blood donations are needed to attend to both scheduled hospital activity and emergencies that require transfusions of blood products from different blood groups. At the moment, groups O+ and A+ are the most requested in hospitals.

Donation Protocol

To donate blood you can go directly or you can request an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effect donacion.com. Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this same web page in the Information and Protocol tab, to familiarize yourself with the established security measures and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.

The ICHH reminds that people vaccinated against covid-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.

Donation points operational on the weekend

This weekend, it will be possible to donate blood without an appointment in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma.

In Tenerife you can donate at the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 00 and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

In addition, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, will be operational, exceptionally, tomorrow, Saturday, August 5, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. And the mobile blood donation unit of the ICHH will be operational in the Plaza de la Catedral de La Laguna from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

In Gran Canaria it will also be possible to donate blood tomorrow, Saturday, at the Alcampo Shopping Center in Telde from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Finally, at the University Hospital of La Palma you can donate Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Donation points operational next week

During the second week of August, the ICHH will have temporary donation points in operation in La Laguna, Icod de los Vinos, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Moya, Telde, La Oliva and Arrecife.

These temporary spaces are added to the fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, Granadilla de Abona, La Orotava, Puerto del Rosario, Arrecife, Valverde, San Sebastian de La Gomera and Breña Alta.

Where to donate in Tenerife

The mobile blood donation unit will be next week in the lagoon town of Tejina, on the occasion of the Tejina Hearts festival. It will be operational in the Plaza del Ramal on Monday from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., from Tuesday to Thursday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In Icod de los Vinos, the donation room set up in the Municipal Library (former convent of San Francisco), located at number 2 San Francisco Street, continues to operate. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., except on Friday, the 12th, which ends half an hour earlier.

As for fixed points, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate blood at the ICHH headquarters on calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, from Monday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: 30 hours, except holidays.

In the southern region, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, will be operational from Monday to Thursday from 1:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., except holidays . Both points have a ford reserved for donors.

And in the north, in La Orotava, extractions will be carried out at the fixed point located on the first floor of the Multicentro Comercial El Trompo, in the Polígono Industrial San Jerónimo, from Monday to Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

At the Hospital Universitario de Canarias you can donate without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

At the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria you can donate without an appointment from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., except holidays. It has a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate in Gran Canaria

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an ICHH mobile unit will be installed starting next Monday at the Las Arenas Shopping Center, next to the sphinx, where it will serve the donor population on Monday from 10:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. :45 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from Tuesday to Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Next week, Moya will host a new temporary donation room in the Casa de la Cultura (former Espacio Joven), located on Calle Juan Delgado, number 3. The hours will be Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 17:00 to 20:45, Thursday from 10:00 to 13:45 and from 17:00 to 20:45 and Friday from 10:00 to 13:45 and from 17:00 to 20:15.

In Telde, the donation room set up in a local Alcampo de La Mareta Shopping Center, next to the lottery administration, will be operational on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 45, Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

As for the fixed points, you can donate blood at the ICHH headquarters at calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from Monday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. 8:15 p.m., except holidays (it has a ford for donors).

In the southeast region, Santa Lucía de Tirajana has a fixed donation point at the Neighborhood Health Center, on Calle Guatiza, no number. Next week’s hours will be Monday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 30 hours.

You can also go to other fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network such as the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays. All of them have a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate in Fuerteventura

La Oliva maintains the donation point installed in the North Fuerteventura Senior Center, located at number 49 Milagrosa Street, in Corralejo. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In addition, on the Island you can donate blood at the fixed point of the General Hospital of Fuerteventura from Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., except holidays. To donate it is convenient to make an appointment in advance at the number 928 546 684.

Where to donate in Lanzarote

The mobile blood donation unit will be next week at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote located on Avenida Alcalde Ginés de la Hoz, without a number. The schedule will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

You can also donate blood at the fixed point of the Canarian Transfusion Network at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital. The schedule is from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior appointment request by calling 928 59 55 72 option 3.

Where to donate on La Palma

The University Hospital of La Palma has a fixed collection point where you can donate from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., by requesting an appointment by calling 922 185 312 or 922 185 320.

Where to donate in El Hierro

The Hospital Nuestra Señora de los Reyes has a fixed collection point where you can donate blood on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except holidays), by appointment by calling 690 886 059 or 922 553 500 .

Where to donate in La Gomera

Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe has a collection point where you can donate blood from Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (except holidays). It is necessary to make an appointment in advance by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213 or by completing the appointment form at effectdonacion.com
