The organizers detail that the objective of this objective forum is to “disseminate action strategies and examples of success faced with the unavoidable adaptation of the tourist and commercial sector in the north of Tenerife to the new demands and habits of tourists and consumers, in an environment marked by the economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the digitization of the economy and the climate emergency. Changes that are setting the tone in the transformation of many sectors towards a new economy and that, undoubtedly, will persist after the pandemic is overcome and normality is returned. ”
The organization is run by ELS Consultores, Gente Radio and Canaria de Comunicación Empresarial, and they have the collaboration of the La Orotava City Council, through its Department of Tourism, which directs Maria Delia Escobar, and the Department of Commerce, coordinated by Felipe David Benitez.

The days are open to professionals, students and the general public, and will be broadcast live through the websites and social networks of the La Orotava City Council, Gente Radio and various collaborating entities. They will also be broadcast through Gente Radio’s 95.6 FM.
The day on September 29 will be dedicated to proposing and analyzing new tourism strategies specifically adapted to the reality of the northern area of Tenerife.. This event will analyze the impact of the pandemic by Covid-19 in the tourist offer of the region and in the air connectivity of Tenerife; changes in the ownership of hotels and apartments, the rise of rural tourism and vacation rental housing, or the re-founding of activities related to commerce, restaurants and leisure. We will also talk about the new consumption habits of tourists, the economic crisis and its effects on tourist spending, how to be a truly sustainable destination and the impact of the new European environmental taxation.
In addition, on the opening day there will be time to analyze the digitization of tourist activity, the use of big data and artificial intelligence, the training of Canarian workers adapted to the new times and the development of new business models around the sightseeing.
The day of the 30th will be dedicated to propose and analyze new strategies to relaunch local commerce in the northern municipalities of the island. It will reflect on how to go from being a local business to a global one and the role of Public Administrations in this process, as well as changes in customer profiles, their priorities and their new habits when buying. We will also talk about the presence of traditional commerce on the internet and the impact of digitization on the activity, without forgetting the importance of taking care of the sales spaces and the shopping experience, customer service, the correct selection of products according to the type of clientele, specialization, the commitment to products and proximity producers, the analysis of the competitors or the correct management of the commercial activity.
