After almost two decades of negotiations to promote one of the essential projects for the management and improvement of the Tacoronte coastline, the local government group has managed, thanks to the meeting between several administrations, to unblock the completion of the canalization of the sanitation network of Mesa del Mar and incorporate a new Paseo del Litoral.
This step, described as “essential and fundamental” by the mayor of the municipality, José Daniel Díaz Armas, was reached at a recent meeting attended by the General Directorate of State Coasts, with the presence of the provincial chief, Jorge Ortega Rodríguez; the head of the General Directorate of Tourist Infrastructure of the regional government, Fernando Miñarro Mena; the director of Tourism Infrastructure of the Cabildo, Laura Castro, and the City Council.
The mayor recalled that “thanks to the negotiations that I carried out during this mandate with the deputy of Nueva Canarias Pedro Quevedo, which resulted in the State budgets contemplating one million for this work, not only would that amount be added , but would mean having the approval of the Ministry of the Environment and Coasts, thus having their authorization”, which means that the project is unlocked.
Díaz Armas stressed that “the work is going to solve the sanitation problems of Mesa del Mar, with a project that will be carried out through the recovery plan and that supposes the promotion of its channeling to the Prismar pumping station, with the realization of the Paseo Litoral between both enclaves, representing a measure that includes all quality and equipment standards, and with an update of the original 2004 project that could never be executed”.
The idea is to take advantage of the current layout of the road that joins Mesa del Mar and El Pris, to channel sanitation and provide it with more modern materials and equipment, conserving the natural values of the space. The mayor explained that “in the end there will be a budget of more than four million”, whose realization “would contemplate having the project in October and, from there, putting the work out to tender, to begin work within the first semester of the year 2023”.
