The Cabildo puts out to tender the plans to build the Motor Circuit

The council launches the machinery to build the Motor Circuit. The Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) yesterday published three announcements with which the Island Corporation commissions some of the main performances of the Granadilla de Abona track. The global tender budget amounts to 51.3 million euros and the forecast is that the works will last just over five years. The files to be developed correspond to the Plan for Defense Against Floods, which is based on the channeling of the water left by the rains, the installation of removable stands and the speed track.

Water and bleachers.

The project Adaptation of the International Motor Park of Tenerife to the Plan of Defense against Floods will be elaborated by Gestur with a value of 5.8 million and a base budget of the tender that reaches 6.2. It has a term of execution of 14 months. The second initiative, under the name Project of earthworks and installations for removable grandstands for the Tenerife International Motor Park, also corresponds to Gestur. It reaches a cost of 7.8 million with a base bidding budget of 8.3 million. In principle, the workers will be extended for a period of 18 months.

Track.

The third of the projects is the so-called Modified speed track in the Tenerife International Motor Park. It is the most expensive for an amount of 34.4 million, which in the bidding base budget reaches 36.8. Also entrusted to the company Gestur, it will be executed in approximately two and a half years. The Cabildo opens from now on a period of 20 days to consult the documentation and during this period it will be possible to present allegations to the documents on public display.

Decades of waiting.

The Cabildo recalled yesterday in a statement that “Tenerife promotes Engine Circuit “After several decades of waiting despite being projected.” The infrastructure, as explained by the insular president, Peter Martin “He has received a decisive boost in this mandate.” “Since I was mayor in the south (Guía de Isora) -he adds- we have already been demanding the creation of this circuit, to the extent that it is an important attraction for the Island and for the many fans of the motor world”. Martin recalls that in Tenerife there are around 20 racing teams and clubs, that add up to more than 1,500 federated athletes and some 300 officials who participate in the 34 annual tests that are held on the Island. To this must be added a score of motorcycle clubs that, he points out, “need an adequate space in quality conditions and safety.”

The president highlights “the important work and effort” from these teams and the Automobile Federation that “will have a higher quality space and more optimal conditions to hold the tests and carry out the training sessions.” Martín clarifies that the objective “is to look for a project that responds to our people to resolve a demand for so long, and give the fans a circuit that they have been promised every four years, in elections.” “It was time for a solution,” he concludes.

longed for answer

The island vice president, Enrique Arriaga (Cs), points out that the Motor Circuit responds to the great Canarian fans to hold competitions of all kinds “with quality and safety”. He values ”an infrastructure that will be a new tourist attraction for the Island.” It also has the homologations of the international Automobile and Motorcycle federations for top-level races. Arriaga adds that «in the surrounding plots there will be facilities dedicated to training around the motor world and others in which companies related to this sector may settle to test components, competition materials, assembly of parts and repair that will be a new employment niche in the southern part of the Island».

Performances.

Works on the North access are currently in the process of being completed, which is in phase I awaiting a road connection with the TF-647. The objective now is to start the process to tender phase ll of the north access, as well as the different interventions on the track, the paddock and the channeling of the ravines; construction and electrical installations; supply infrastructure and buffer tanks; and accessory sanitation facilities, buffer tank and purification.

Presentation with three godfathers of luxury: Sainz, Checa and Giampaoli

The Cabildo presents today (7:00 p.m., Symphony Hall of the Auditorium of Tenerife) the Motor Circuit with the presence of the pilots Carlos Sainz Jr. (Formula 1), Carlos Checa (former Moto GP) and the Canarian-Italian Christine Giampaoli Zonca (off shore modality) as sponsors. The event will be conducted by specialized journalist Antonio Lobato. More than a hundred media outlets have been accredited and in a few hours the 800 tickets available to the public were sold out. In addition to the main Tenerife authorities, representatives of federations related to the motor world, teams, clubs, dealers and business representatives are also invited to the presentation. The schedule for the Tenerife Motor Circuit construction project and the investment required to carry out each of the phases will be explained to them. The Tenerife Motor Circuit is an infrastructure highly demanded by motor fans on the Island, which is why the Cabildo wanted to give it a definitive boost, which has already materialized with the obtaining of approvals from both the International Automobile Federation (FIA ) and the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM). In addition to its use by local fans, this sports facility will serve as an incentive to attract car and motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world to also become a tourist attraction for the Island. Two key reasons for promoting the Circuit.
