Cross port has formally requested the Presidency of the Canary Islands Government its candidacy, “as a pioneer municipality of tourism in the Canary Islands”, to host the institutional headquarters of the European Tourism Agency of the European Union. for the mayor, Marco Gonzalez (PSOE)«this candidacy is endorsed by the city’s own history, intimately related to the birth and promotion of tourism not only at the insular, regional and national level but also internationally, by hosting one of the first vacation hotels in the world, the Taoro Hotel».
Socialists insist that Cross port would be the ideal venue for this organization and they regret «the staunch defense made at the headquarters of the Island Council by the councilor of the Canary Coalition Diana Mora, former Councilor for Tourism of Puerto de la Cruz, of the candidacy of Santa Cruz of Tenerife».
“That a nationalist representative of Cross port omit the application presented by the tourist city to host this European Agency demonstrates the lack of interest and the metropolitan bias that has always characterized CC and that has done so much damage to this city, to the north and, therefore, to the necessary island balance”, laments the Puerto Rican PSOE.
