SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 30. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Mobility area, has signed the new program contract with Titsa, the highest in history, which regulates the conditions for the provision of the interurban public service of regular passenger transport by road in the island between 2022 and 2026, as approved by the Governing Council.
The first vice president and island councilor for Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, details in a note that the island corporation will invest 214,631,338 euros over the next five years “and the contract includes the services that the company must provide and introduces, for the first time, quality standards in punctuality, frequency and satisfaction, which aims to achieve more efficient and sustainable care”.
Thus, “with a contribution of more than 42 million euros per year, it is the largest program contract in the history of the transport company, which is guaranteed financial stability in exchange for the provision of a public service of maximum quality”.
Arriaga also indicates that Titsa provides service on 125 interurban lines distributed throughout all the municipalities of the island, covering a total of 28,605,133 kilometers per year.
“That distance is as if without the company it would go to the Moon 75 times each year or would go around the Earth 715 times,” he says.
The Island Director of Mobility, José Alberto León, highlights that the Cabildo’s commitment to public transport is “obvious” because throughout this legislature it has worked to provide a better service to the user.
To do this, he comments, “we have remodeled routes that are better adapted to demand, increased frequencies or, for example, the renewal of the fleet that we are already doing and that we have designed for the coming years, more comfortable and environmentally sustainable vehicles” .
