An anonymous ‘e-mail’ helps to arrest a man in Tenerife for having prohibited weapons and drug trafficking

The National Police has arrested a 30-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of possession of prohibited weapons and drug trafficking thanks to citizen collaboration, upon receiving an email in the account [email protected] reporting the suspicion that this activity could be carried out in a home.

Upon arrival of the mail, the agents began the pertinent procedures to verify the facts and, after verifying its veracity, began the investigation of what was called Operation Alchemy.

Carrying out various investigations, they managed to obtain a series of indicative elements that directed a suspect to the municipality of La Victoria, in the north of Tenerife, who was seized with a 38-caliber revolver with evidence of having been modified located inside his vehicle.

Subsequently, the competent judicial authority, the La Orotava Court of Instruction, was requested to enter and search his home, where a new 9mm caliber pistol was found, with a charger and several cartridges, ready to be used, as well as money. in cash, several precision scales, bags with a white substance intended for drug adulteration, a certain amount of cocaine and other usual items intended for retail sale.

Once again, citizen collaboration was key to prosecuting these crimes. The National Police has launched the email account [email protected] as a channel for citizens to report anonymously on possible people or points of sale of drugs and their related crimes, in a new impulse that the Provincial Police Station of Santa Cruz de Tenerife wants to give to eradicate these activities.
