The Council of Tenerife grant a subsidy of 200,000 euros to municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants to encourage and promote citizen participation. The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, assures that “this line of aid for 2022 represents the continuity of what we have promoted for two years in this mandate, putting the focus of attention on municipalities with a population of less than 20,000 population”.

“City councils are the institutions that best know, due to their proximity, what the needs of their population are and that is why These kinds of grants are so necessary. because it is the responsible people in the municipalities who establish the priorities in each one of them”, specifies Nauzet Gugliotta.

The period of execution of the projects is established from June 1, 2022 to June 1, 2023. Two objective distribution criteria have been set. The first is a linear criterion that provides 70% of the total amount to be granted. In this way, 140,000 euros will be distributed among all municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants. Its objective is to grant an equal amount to all the beneficiary municipalities and that this guarantees the development of actions or projects of citizen participation in each one of them.

The second criterion responds to the population of the municipalities. Once guaranteed a minimum, sufficient and equal distributionthe distribution of the remaining 30% is arranged, a total of 60,000 euros, proportionally to the population of each of the municipalities, in order to increase the minimum guaranteed amount in attention to the potential beneficiary population of the actions that are develop.

The municipalities that are interested in participating in this call may present their proposals for fifteen working days after the bases are published in the BOP.
